SECRETS SLACKER CD-R
2010
Secrets EP of slacker-synth jams curated out of numerous keyboard meanderings and drum machine slurps. Summer skateboarding ballad Slacker evokes a collins-esque pop introspection, themes of self-pity, ritual and escapism collapse under the hazy vs lazy weight of it's self-aware mumbled miserabalism. hershehimme responds with an icier cafe loneliness; dense sadness with a hood-up drum beat. Drifting into a improvised tape jam I'm Having a TV Dream closes the EP with hissy dread, bladerunner without the cityscapes or protagonist.

Observational and anthemic, Telephone is like standing in a busy share traders office while dancing on desks shouting and finger point dancing to the point of ecstasy. THINKING AHEAD is the accompanying powerpoint presentation theme, closing your eyes reveals a starfield simulation of pie graphs and escalating lines wiggling up to ever impressive investment return BONUS.

Recorded live @ the high seas in orcland, this furious maelstrom of bass dirge and drum-splosions is the alternative-reality death rattle to Lemmy falling into the pool drunk and drowning in The Rise and Fall of Western civilisation. The soundtrack to his eyes rolling back into his head, then waking up it all being a dream, just to find his shuttle having crashed on earth and everyone being apes dressed as cops.
Re-issued here with beautifully screened sleeves by Ryan, as colourful as blood-clots and psychedelic as bootsy-collins underwear draw.

FRASE FANTASY CD-R
2007
Recorded after having had a revelatory experience whilst working at a record store hearing Georgio Moroder’s “E=MC2” album for the first time. HiNRG and italo disco hit this smalltown New Zealander like a synthesized laser shot, much to the amusement of his work mate at the time.
“Fantasy” became the template song whose theme Fraser would then continue to riff on. The tired duality of the fantastic introversion we need to get by in a dreary mundane world; shift work, unfulfilled romance and cheapest-cans-at-the-supermarket realism. A borrowed sound palette of straight-to-video escapism, contrasted with the musings of a dude in his bedroom, not a man out dancing.
Available as a CDR in a handcrafted cardboard sleeve.

2006
Here is a three track EP with tracks culled from a LONGER recording session had in Wellington whilst coming down from touring. The results at the time became the album Fraser refused to acknowledge existed. A few years later he found the masters and was happy enough with “Forever” and “Dear Catastrophe” to release them. Tacked on is “8hr Crush”, previously only available on a Real Groovy compilation CD and on 7” Lathe via SHRIEK SOUNDS in Australia which was a split with Newcastle indie hero ALPS. FRASE+BRI stopped playing together in 2008, this being their LAST release.

FRASE+BRI LIVE @ THE DUX 2006 CD-R
2006
A live document of FRASE+BRI playing at the DUX DE LUX in Christchurch. Six tracks of primitive synth-pop. Typed-riffs, diary pages spoken aloud to a thin on the ground audience of friends. Recorded from the sound-desk and and mostly empty-room by Marcus Winstanly.
After having played solo as FRASE for most of 2005/2006, Fraser asked long time friend Bri to help him play the keyboards he couldn’t. FRASE+BRI played and toured A LOT following this period, up and down New Zealand. Fraser continued to pick up commodore c64s cheaply, repairing them and readying them for the road. This unique combination of antiquated-gear anxiety and observational storytelling helped garner F+B a strong national following. Becoming New Zealand’s BEST introverted-party band. Available as a CDR in a handcrafted cardboard sleeve.

2005
The year is 2005, living again with his parents Fraser Austin aka Frase stops writing sad-dude guitar songs and starts writing upbeat sad-dude synth songs. Not being able to buy a synth he started using a commodore 64 he brought from a garage sale. The result was a primitive riff driven twee-pop. He was soon playing shows armed with floppy discs full of drum patterns and a nervous stage act that involved smoking consoles and bleeding heart observational confessions. Saturated in work place longing, dole smoked crushes, awkward life lessons put to a loud and temperamental beat.
The debut two track EP was originally sold at shows housed in a recycled 5 1/4” diskette. First track “He’s Going To Artschool” was quickly picked up by local student radio stations throughout New Zealand, it’s woozy repetitive synth pop encapsulating Fraser’s lame dude twee observations on art school longing. Shrugging off obvious 80s new-wave nostalgia with the realism of being self-recorded and DIY in way that sounded more indie-rock than pop. Available (again) as a LIMITED EDITION CDR in a handcrafted cardboard sleeve.
